Sharon Dowey MSP has praised the vital work of Intandem, in Ayr, after visiting the organisation to learn more about their youth and mentoring services for Accommodated and Looked After children and young people across Ayrshire.
Their youth services offer children and young people a safe space where they can build relationships, enjoy activities, develop new skills and receive support to help them make positive life choices.
The Intandem service is an Ayrshire-wide project that helps children and young people, ages 8-14, who are looked after at home. They pair young people with a mentor who will be a positive role model, providing support and consistency, and building a strong relationship with the young person.
During her visit, Sharon met with,
Diane Morgan, Intandem Co-Ordinator at Barnardo’s Scotland;
Emma Brennan, Barnardo’s Project Worker; and
Theresa Ross, Ayrshire mentor.

Sharon Dowey MSP said: “It was a pleasure to visit some of the team at Intandem and find out about the fantastic work they do in supporting children and young people across Ayrshire. They provide vital services to so many children and young people across Ayrshire and are always on the look out for dedicated volunteers. I would encourage anyone who thinks mentoring might be right for them to get in touch.”
